The BOOKS is self-hosted. Your books live in a PostgreSQL database on your own Mac and back up to your own Drive folder. There is no The BOOKS cloud holding your accounting data.
The website
This site collects only the email address you submit to the beta form, used solely to send your invite and occasional beta updates. No trackers, no ad pixels, no selling of data. Unsubscribe anytime.
The app
Your accounting data never leaves your machine except to your own backup folder. AI receipt capture sends the specific receipt image to Anthropic using your own API key, under Anthropic’s terms — nothing routes through a The BOOKS server.
